94+pts Wine Advocate (2022, 2023 not yet rated)
The 2022 Chardonnay Cuve Anne comes from several vineyards (Justice, Koosah, Sojeau and Witness Tree) located on both volcanic and marine sedimentary soils. It was fermented and aged in 45% new, 350- and 500-liter barrels for 12 months, plus an additional four months in stainless steel. The nose presents deep, savory scents of matchstick, roasted almonds, honey, pastry and golden apples. The light-bodied palate offers concentrated flavors that are more open and expansive than the nose at this stage. It has a seamless spine of acidity that drives its flavors into a long finish and calls you back for another sip. Give it 23 years in bottle or a few hours in a decanterit opens dramatically with air. 750 cases were made. Drinking Window: 2025-2040

92+pts Vinous Media (2022, 2023 not yet rated)
The 2022 Chardonnay Cuve Anne slowly evolves in the glass, slightly reductive, with a whiff of crushed rocks giving way to rosemary and freshly sliced apricot. This washes across the palate with a flinty sensation as mineral-inflected fruits cascade throughout. The 2022 leaves a lingering concentration, punching well above its class. It finishes long, savory, and nearly salty with a citrus tinge. Drinking Window: 2024-2028

When we launched Walter Scott, it was fueled by our savings and a few small loans from familymost notably, a crucial contribution from Erica’s mother, Elizabeth Anne McKinnon: an avid trout fisherwoman, mushroom forager, and quilter. Starting a winery from virtually nothing struck many as audacious, yet Ericas mom shared our bold vision. This wine embodies the idea of taking big risks and following your dreams. Cuvee Anne salutes both Ericas Mother, as well as our Erica Anne Landon, both of whom had wholehearted faith in the dream of Walter Scott.

Our single vineyard wines give the vineyard a voice as we bottle a pure expression of terroir. Cuvee Anne allows us the opportunity to meticulously blend this wine to capture the precision and complexity of Chardonnay from the Eola-Amity Hills. 2023 Cuvee Anne Chardonnay is a barrel selection, embodying our distinctive vision of Willamette Valley Chardonnay through our lens of the Eola-Amity Hills.
