Rancho de La Luna Studio was founded by Fred Drake and David Catching in 1993 in Joshua Tree, California

Rancho de la Luna mezcal is produced using 100% agave Angustifolia (maguey Espadin) in Santiago Matatlan, Oaxaca. The harvested plants are roasted in a conical stone over, milled by a tahona, naturally fermented in wooden vats, and double-distilled in copper pots. At one point in time the mezcal was produced by the brandMezcal Los Javisbut that relationship ended. As of 2020 it is being produced by mezcalero Carlos Mendes Blas ofCruz de FuegoandCuentacuentos. This mezcal carries notes of fresh agave, clove, and roasted cashew.
