Paul Jouards 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Vieilles Vignes Rouge is a refined and expressive Pinot Noir from one of Burgundys most prestigious villages, known predominantly for its whites but equally capable of producing elegant reds. Sourced from old vinestypically 40 years and olderplanted on limestone-rich slopes at the southern end of the Cte de Beaune, these parcels benefit from exceptional drainage and a terroir that imparts a distinctive minerality and finesse.

The 2022 vintage in Burgundy combined warm, sunny conditions with cool nights, allowing grapes to ripen fully while retaining freshness and vibrant acidity. This balance is evident in the wines supple structure and aromatic complexity. The vines are cultivated sustainably, with careful canopy management and low yields to maximize concentration and flavor purity.

After hand harvesting and rigorous sorting, the grapes are destemmed and fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel vats. Gentle extraction techniquesincluding soft punch-downshelp preserve the wines elegance and aromatic intensity. Maturation takes place over 12 months in French oak barrels, about 20% of which are new, contributing subtle spice and texture without overpowering the pure fruit and mineral expression.
