very dark; bacon fat, lardon, blackcurrant airs on the nose which is intense, probing. The palate has knuckle within its compact richness, the tannins carrying a firm feel, are resolute. This is solid, square-jawed Cornas, a grounded do. It carries good potential, is a long distance wine, the length very sure, and a classic note of iron late on. From 2026. 2047-49 July 2021

• 70% Chaillot (1993 planting), 30% La Cte (late 1960s planting)
• 50% destemmed
• crop cooled at 15C 5-6 days, no crushing, 4 week vinification
• cap punching every 2 days, malo in oak
• aged 10% new, 45% 1-year, 45% 2-year 228-litre oak casks with one 600-litre cask 18 months
• then brief steel vat stay, unfined, unfiltered, 2,400-5,000 b
