The NV Brut Nature Blanc de Blancs was exclusively picked in both the Blanc de Blancs and the Montage de Reims and spent at least eight years on lees. Lemon, oatmeal and smoke meet against a backdrop of chalk on the nose. The palate hits a serene soprano note of exquisite purity and lightness, always with that smokiness, exquisite tautness and beautifully fine foam made up of thousands of tiny bubbles that mollify this essentially pure and clean-cut wine. The latest release of this new cuve, the NV Blanc de Blancs Nature from Laurent-Perrier offers up aromas of white fruits, flowers, confit citron and baked bread. It has a medium to full-bodied, tense and perfectly balanced palate with bright acids and a delicate vinous core of fruit, segueing into a long, saline and chalky finish. Based on the 2014 vintage (60%) complemented with the 2012, it is derived from vines planted in the communes of Avize, Cramant and Chouilly (and in the Montagne de ReimsTours-sur-Marne, Villers-Marmery, Rilly La Montagne). Refined scents of flowers and white pears. The mid-palate is a lovely bag of spicy bonbons, nougat and peaches. Really long, rich and velvety with a lick of mouthwatering lemon curd in the aftertaste.

Racy and linear, this unfolds on the palate to reveal a rich range of apricot tarte, lemon curd and marzipan underscored by a striking vein of chalky minerality. Packs power and drive but is finely knit and elegant overall, with details of white blossoms, fleur de sel and grapefruit peel lingering on the finish. (AN)

Our Tasting Note
Our supplier sampled us on a bottle we opened and drank over an 1-1.5 hours. The wine grew in the glass and consistently opened as it warmed up a little and had the chance to breathe – so you can drink this now with a little bit of air time but it will also age gracefully just like the best NV/MV wines out there (i.e. Krug Grand Cuvee).
Color:A vibrant light lemon-gold color that shimmered with hints of green, very eye catching!
Nose:Med+ persistence at first that grew with air, slightly compact layers gave good persistence between the layers of lemon pith, lemon peel, lemongrass, a very light touch of biscuit, plenty of racy chalk and saline minerality let you know we are in blanc de blancs territory!
Palate:Initially somewhat tight, but it expanded as it warmed up on the palate and with air/warming up some in the bottle. Medium body, with med+ acidity that is racy and perfectly integrated. The flavors are complex, layered and intense as they grew with more air and time to warm up a little. Long, fresh, linear and racy on the finish. Outstanding and exceeded my expectations!

Crus:Chardonnay from the Cte des Blancs (Avize, Cramant, Oiry, Chouilly) and from the Montagne de Reims (Tours-sur-Marne, Villers-Marmery, Rilly La Montagne).
Winemaking:The grapes are strictly selected to retain only those that have both a high potential degree and a low acidity, allowing the wine to achieve the desired balance without the addition of any dosage.
Aging:8 years minimum.
