2017 was an extraordinary year for late harvest riesling in Germany.A long, cool growing season, plus plenty of desirable noble rot resulted in special Auslese wines.This Wehlener Sonnenuhr exhibits explosive aromas of apple cobbler, apricot preserves, vanilla cream and smoky slate.Sweet and luxurious on the palate, yet still light and invigorating.Classic Auslese flavours of honey, raisins, marzipan, baking spices, all supported by bracing acidity and a deep reservoir of slate terroir.

Serve this with fresh raspberries, a fruit tart, ripe cheeses or Danish butter cookies. Will improve in the bottle for at least a decade.

As succulent as it is elegant. The acidity is giving it a great kick, pushing the finish way out there. Brimming with peaches in the nose. The long and refined finish pulls you back to the glass for more.
