The original planting has reached 120-year-old in 2024. A gorgeous full bright purple colour. A solid plump right of dark fruit, black and red cherries, the tannins are really refined, and the acidity keeps a fresh feel at the finish. Really successful this year. Drink from 2030-2037. Anne Gross parcel in Clos de Vougeot lies within the revered lieu-dit Le Grand Maupertui, one of the vineyards finest sectors. Here, old vines on shallow clay-limestone soils produce a Grand Cru Pinot Noir of remarkable depth and precision. Where Echzeaux offers silk and perfume, Clos de Vougeot delivers power, structure, and grandeurall interpreted with Gross signature finesse.

Terroir
Situated mid-slope in Clos de Vougeot, Le Grand Maupertui combines shallow, stony limestone soils with clay layers that lend both finesse and structure. The position, close to the wall of Grands chezeaux, is considered among the appellations most privileged, yielding wines with both concentration and aromatic lift.

Tasting Notes
The 2023 Le Grand Maupertui is strikingly complex: aromas of black cherry, blackberry, and cassis mingle with violet, spice, and a touch of graphite. The palate is broad-shouldered and layered, with dense fruit framed by firm yet refined tannins. Notes of dark fruit, mineral spice, and subtle oak carry through a long, resonant finish. This is a Clos de Vougeot of both muscle and refinement, built for long aging.
