A blend of Italys most quintessential native red grape with Umbrias own Sagrantino, the name of which is said to derive from its use in the holy sacrament. Religious history and folklore aside, Sagrantino is renowned for its big but supple tannins, while Antonelli is one of Umbrias greatest estates, with origins going back to the Middle Ages.
Made of selected fruit from the oldest vines grown at 300-400 m a.s.l and aged for at least 18 months, with 6 in tonneau (15% new) and 12 in large format neutral oak. Ripe red cherries and berry fruit mingle with violets on the nose. Full bodied with distinctive minerality, racy acidity, and luscious tannins emerging on the finish. A powerful yet fabulously balanced wine to be enjoyed at the table with grilled, roasted, or braised meats as well as with hard cheeses such as Parmigiano Reggiano.
