The 2022 Ladoix 1er Cru La Corve from Domaine Anne Parent is a striking expression of this often-overlooked corner of the Cte de Beaune, combining ripe fruit generosity with a firm, mineral core. The La Corve vineyard lies on the eastern flank of the Corton hill, just below the Grand Crus, where its mid-slope position and southeast exposure ensure excellent sunlight and drainage. The soils here are classic for the areathin, stony clay-limestone with a high proportion of marlproducing wines of both aromatic lift and structural depth.
The 2022 growing season was warm and dry, marked by an early budbreak and long, sunny summer. While conditions favored full phenolic ripeness, Anne Parents organic farming and careful canopy management preserved acidity and balance in the grapes. The harvest was carried out entirely by hand, with strict selection in the vineyard to ensure pristine fruit quality.
In the cellar, the fruit was fully destemmed and given a short cold soak to extract vibrant color and aromatic complexity. Fermentation with native yeasts was conducted in open vats, using gentle punch-downs and pump-overs to coax fine, silky tannins. The wine was aged for around 16 months in French oak barrels, roughly one-third new, adding discreet spice and toast to the wines pure fruit and terroir expression.
The 2022 La Corve opens with a vivid nose of red cherry, wild strawberry, and raspberry, layered with subtle notes of rose petal, licorice, and a mineral undertone reminiscent of wet stone. On the palate, it is medium-bodied yet concentrated, with precise, lively acidity and finely knit tannins framing a core of juicy red fruit. The finish is long and elegant, leaving behind hints of spice and chalky minerality.
Approachable in its youth for its generous fruit and supple texture, this Premier Cru will also reward cellaring over the next 812 years. It is a superb partner for roast pork, duck breast with cherry glaze, or earthy vegetarian dishes such as lentils with roasted root vegetables.
