Our Tasting Note (2/6/24): I think I couldalmost drink thiswine every day if I had to:it’s complex, delicious, varietally correct, gives pleasure, and most importantly is fun!
Medium(-)ruby red core, lighter edges. An extremely fragrant medium+ to pronounced nose, cherry, currants, florals, rose, tar, blood orange peel, and genteelspices. Mediumbodiedand fine, medium tannin, very elegant and suppleon the palate. Hasexcellentpersistence, fresh, very classic. Finishes long and persistent. This isa little STUNNERthat blows the doors off of most Langhe Nebbiolo from Barolo and Barbaresco!

The little brother of the Riserva, and made in every vintage, consider this a wine akin to the Produttori Barbaresco normale bottling they make every year that blends different vineyards with different expositions, plots, and varied mountain and hard rock soils from the terraced vineyards that lined the village. All of that blending gives you the perfect snapshot of Carema and at a banging price for what is considered one of the greatest terroirs for Nebbiolo on the planet!

The 2016 Carema Classico is a wine of unreal beauty. Orange peel, spice, star anise, sweet pipe tobacco, rose petal, mint and Alpine herbs are some of the many aromas that lift from the glass. Translucent and gracious, with tons of character, the 2016 is all class. Readers who want to understand what Nebbiolo in Carema is all about will want to check out the 2016. It is a stunning, hauntingly beautiful wine. The 2016 spent two years in neutral oak casks.
