History:
Stockies, the name the locals use to refer to the Stock Route surf break of the south end of Wainui Beach. It’s name dates from days of old when this was the exit point for the east coast farmers who drove their cattle down the beach to market. Although the break is one of the most accessible breaks on Wainui Beach it is protected by the Stock Route Mafia (SRM) who remain unknown to most, but regularly tag the wall honoring past and not so past great surfing browsers.
Stockies, both the break and the beer are a great entry point but will leave you fully satisfied as a good session should.
