Piero Incisa della Rocchetta, the grandson of Sassicaia founder Mario Incisa della Rocchetta, ended up in Patagonia after tasting a bottle of Pinot Noir he fell in love with, and was told came from old vines in Patagonia. This wine comes from 60-year-old, head pruned vines in the Rio Negro Valley of Patagonia. As the name suggests (albeit in Spanish), there is no added sulphur in this wine – a rare thing that is enabled by the extremely high quality of the grapes and the attention to detail in the winemaking at this address.
96 Points – James Suckling
Very fresh aromas of cranberries, fresh blueberries, stones, pomegranates, stems, violets and lemon zest. Its medium-bodied with very fine, powdery tannins. So clean and juicy. Mineral, layered and transparent. Taut finish. Fruit from Cincuenta y Cinco vineyard. No sulfites added.
