Pineau des Charentes is a French aperitif made in the departments of Charente and Dordogne in western France, near Bordeaux. It is a forified wine ( mistelle or vin de liqueur) made from a blend of Cognac with lightly fermented Merlot & Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.
