The 2023 Pernand-Vergelesses Blanc En Caradeux 1er Cru has a powerful nose that does not hold back: peach, wild honey, traces of mango and patisserie. The palate is rounded on the entry with plenty of body and a pleasing texture, although those familiar with the potential of this Premier Cru might miss some complexity and mineralit on the finish. Nevertheless, there is a pleasant tang of lemongrass on the aftertaste, and it should drink well for five or six years. – By Neal Martin on November 2024

Vineyard
This 1.8-hectare vineyard is ideally located mid-slope on a hillsidenear the Corton-Charlemagnevineyards. Itshares the same geologyand is at thesame altitude as its illustrious neighbor, but differs in its east-facing exposure. In short: an exceptional terroir marked by intense minerality.

I tasted a few of their wines at a La Paulee event and they caught my attention standing out in a crowded field as well made classically styled wines. Based in the village of Beaune, this is a negociant domaine which meansthey purchase fruit from other growers to make their wines.Now, they also have PLENTY of their own vineyards theymake wine from as well, particularly the not often seen monopole 1er vineyardFeves (astand out in my tasting).

Fast forward a couple weeks, a representative from Domaine Chanson conducted a tasting of their winesin our back yard in Raleigh. These are some ofthe first 2023s I have tasted, and I liked most of what Itried. The overall assessment was this was a very good vintage, a warm year like 2022 that produced balanced wines that retained freshness with very good acidities, with minerality and terroir authenticto site and appellation!
