Terroir
Siro Pacentis Rosso di Montalcino comes from estate vineyards on the northern and southern slopes of Montalcino, offering a blend of complementary microclimates. The northern parcels, at higher altitudes with cooler breezes, contribute aromatic precision and freshness, while the warmer southern slopes provide depth and richness of fruit. The soils are a mix of clay, sand, and galestro (marl and shale), ensuring both good drainage and a mineral backbone. The vines, averaging over 20 years of age, are farmed sustainably to maximize terroir expression.

Vinification
The 2022 vintage was hand-harvested in late September at peak ripeness. Grapes were carefully sorted before destemming and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks using indigenous yeasts. A relatively long maceration allowed for gentle tannin extraction while preserving Sangioveses bright fruit profile. The wine matured for around 12 months in lightly toasted French oak barriques (used for the second and third time) to enhance texture without overpowering the fruit. It was bottled unfiltered to retain purity and vibrancy.

Tasting Notes
The 2022 Rosso di Montalcino offers an elegant yet energetic expression of young Sangiovese. Brilliant ruby-red in color, it opens with aromas of wild cherry, pomegranate, and red currant, supported by violet, blood orange, and subtle earthy-spice tones. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with lively acidity, delivering layers of juicy red berries, savory herbs, and a touch of crushed stone. Fine-grained tannins lend structure while remaining supple, leading to a fresh, mouthwatering finish that invites another sip.

Serving & Pairing
Serve at 1618 C. This Rossos brightness and balance make it an ideal match for Tuscan farepappardelle with rag di cinghiale, roasted chicken with rosemary, or pecorino stagionato. While crafted for earlier enjoyment, it will develop additional complexity over 57 years.
