“The Boulands 2023 ‘Corcelette Sabl’ Vieilles Vignes bottling is stunning. As I mentioned in my article on the domaine a year ago, these old vines are some of Daniels most venerable, as they were all planted in 1925! The 2023 version is gorgeous, offering up a deep and black fruity bouquet of dark berries, black cherries, violets, a touch of pomegranate, coffee bean, a touch of sweet stem tones, a gorgeous foundation of dark soil tones, just a whisper of fresh thyme and a topnote of distant bonfire. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, black fruity and old viney at the core, with superb mineral undertow and grip, fine-grained tannins and a long, complex and beautifully balanced finish. This is a stunning young wine! 2031-2075. (Mar/Apr 2025)”

92pts Wine Advocate (2022 score, 2023 NYR)
The 2022 Morgon Corcelette Vieilles Vignes Sable offers up aromas of baked blackberries, prunes, lilac petals, brown spices, vine smoke and tinges of orange rind. The medium to full-bodied wine supports a layer of grilled purple fruits, evenly dispersed along the palate, with a firm backbone of chalky, coating tannins. Ripe acids infuse the wine with verve, accentuating the nuanced undertones of white pepper and sage, particularly evident on the finish. While already displaying great promise, this wine will benefit from a few more years of bottle aging to allow its various elements to fall into place. Drink Date: 2024 – 2036

The discreet Daniel Bouland took over the family estate in the 1980s and now cultivates around nine hectares of vineyards in Morgon, Chiroubles and the Cte de Brouilly. Most of these vineyards are planted with old vines, some dating back to 1926, as in the Les Delys cuve. The three hectares of vineyards are farmed conventionally but with attentive work by hand tying the goblets to protect them from sun and hail. Bouland employs whole-cluster fermentations lasting the better part of two weeks, followed by maturation for up to nine months in foudres or tanks, with only small dosages of SO2 added after malolactic fermentation. The ripe, sunny 2022 vintage showcases impressive depth and muscularity, standing out as one of Bouland’s headier, more powerful recent vintages.
