Our Tasting Note
A deep, darkcore, vibrant ruby edges. The nose is pronounced with hallmark notes for a Graves: scorched earth, iron, with generous cassis, currants and bing cherry, coffee bean and spices from the secondary notes, with graphite too. The palate is medium bodied, with med/med+ velvety and youthful tannins that are perfectly integrated. A pronounced palate is light on its feet, with a long, pleasingfinish that provokes a smile and a desire for more of this great value.

Caroline and Xavier Perromat officially took over the Chteau du Mayne in 2012, though the estate has been in the Perromat family for several generations. It was the first property acquired by Jean Perromat, who went on to become the head of the Syndicat des Vignerons de Crons. The domaine comprises four hectares of vines surrounded by woods, and has a deep gravel soil above a sublayer of limestone rich in marine starfish fossils. The wines are a reflection of the smallest appellation in Bordeaux – Crons, a subregion within Graves that also produces sweet botrytis wines. Before taking over the Chteau du Mayne, Xavier worked with his extended family at the domaine, and Caroline worked at Chteau Haut-Bailly. The winemaking reflects their desire to stay true to the tradition of Bordeaux, and create terroir-driven wines that offer great elegance and value.
