Besides Chetillons, Moncuit has 6 more hectares under vine in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger which is the same Chardonnay-focused village whereKrug’s ‘Clos du Mesnil’ is grown, and where Salon makes their stellar 100% Chardonnay Champagne only in top vintages. Les Grands Blancs is always a blend of Chardonnay from two villages: Mesnil and Oger. About eighty percent of the total blend is aged in old casks, and the remainder in stainless steel.

The NV Brut Nature Les Grand Blancs, a blend of 2019 and 2018 is packed with energy. Expressive savory, spice and mineral notes lend complexity to this expressive Blanc de Blancs. The brut nature style is attractive, but I cant help thinking this might have benefitted from a little more generosity through the middle.
