Alain created this wine in homage to his mother Antoinette. Alain creditsher as the person who gave him histaste for hard work.These wines resemble herin their finesse and power.This north-facing plot, along with its clay terroir, provides freshness and character that make it an exceptional wine. The vineyard overlooks his homevillage of La Cadire, so dear to he and his family’s lives.
95% Mourvdre, 5% Grenache/Cinsault, 45-year-old vines
1hectarevineyard site, north facing and planted inwell-ventilated clay soils on sunny hillsides, allowing for a later harvest than usual
Grapes are partially de-stemmed
Grapes are vinified separately
Fermentation in stainless steel for 3 weeks, pump overs twice a day
Aged infoudre for 18 months (large neutral French oak barrel)
