There is not muchblancfrom the famed La Crau vineyard to go around, in France or in the United States, making it one of those rarities sure to leave its mark on any special occasion. Thats not to mention, of course, the fresh fennel aromatics followed by a juicy and creamy core of fruit and salt. Clairette, an unsung hero of the south, is the main grape here, undoubtedly one of many key elements to this singular wine. Kermit Lynch

Here is a great tasting note of the 2021 that I think encapsulates the experience of drinking one of these exquisitely endowed white wines!

The 2021 Chteauneuf Du Pape Blanc might be one of the best examples of this white that’ I’ve tasted. Incredible pear, white flowers, salty minerality, and hints of ripe citrus define the bouquet, and it’s medium to full-bodied on the palate, has remarkable purity, flawless balance, and a great finish. A blend of Clairette, Roussanne, Grenache Blanc, and Bourboulenc that’s brought up mostly in foudre (there’s a small part in demi-muids and barrel), it deserves 2-3 years in the cellar and will have two decades or more of overall longevity.
