The Azelia 2020 Barolo Margheria (with 5,500 bottles released) shows a floral and fruity side of Serralunga d’Alba fruit. However, this expression also maintains a sense of those ferrous mineral notes that come with the territory. I find all these wines from Azelia in 2020 to be thin and simple in terms of mouthfeel, and I would recommend opening this bottle closer to the near term than not. The Margheria vines are 65 years old on average. Drink Date: 2025 – 2040
The team at Azelia is working to build a new winery that is slated to be completed in 2025. With this latest group of releases, we have the special 2014 Barolo Riserva Bricco Voghera.

The classic! Sixty year old vines planted on two hectares of land in Serralunga. Southwest facing, Guyot-trained. Fermented with indigenous yeast, aged in large casks for 30 months. The Margheria is pursued in every vintage by loyal Barolo buyers for this is the greatest example of this Grand Cru Barolo site.
