The NV Eugne Longue Garde is a non-dos blend of 80% Meunier and 20% Pinot Noir. Ample and resonant, this is wonderfully open-knit from the very first taste. Pear, spice, slate, apple tart and dried flowers wrap around the palate, leading to a supple finish that is impeccably done. There’s such precision here. Disgorged: February 6, 2023.

TERROIR AND SOILS:

• Cuisles, Jonquery, Chtillon-sur-Marne.
• 90% of the soils are composed of green clays over limestone marls.

VINIFICATION

• The base of this cuve is a perpetual blend, elaborated with reserve wines dating from 2003 to 2017, which are refreshed every year with 50% of the new harvest.

• 60 months on average before disgorging on 2/6/23

Mousse is one of the top Grower Champagnes producers from the Valle de la Marne that specializes in Pinot Meunier. After our incredible visit with Cedric at Mousse in October, we had to get some more wines, so here we are with a NEW parcel of VERY limited amounts of new Mousse champagnes! One of the wines we are selling was being disgorged right in front of us on our visit!

Our time with Cedric was one of the best stops on our trip – the wines, the vineyards, and the knowledge shared by spending 3+ hours with Cedric was incredible! We learned so much more about champagne and in particular what makes his wines what they are with all of the special approaches he takes with customizations in the winemaking process and how he literally does everything he can to do things with intentional and careful regard to the planet. Renewable, regenerative, organic, biodynamic, you name it, he is trying, testing or utilizing it fully where practical in ways that work to increase the quality of the wine and the footprint he makes on the planet!
